Biography

LAN SLUDER is the author of more than a dozen books on travel and retirement including Fodor’s Belize, Amazing Asheville, Easy Belize, Frommer’s Best Beach Vacations: Carolinas and Georgia and Living Abroad in Belize. His two forthcoming books are Play Bridge Today and Moving to the Mountains. An Asheville, N.C., native, Sluder is a former business newspaper editor in New Orleans, a magazine editor and publisher and an advertising agency owner, He has contributed to many newspapers and magazines including The New York Times, Caribbean Travel & Life, Where to Retire, Chicago Tribune, Bangkok Post, Charlotte Observer and Toronto Globe & Mail. Sluder and his wife, Sheila M. Lambert, an attorney, live on a mountain farm near Asheville, a part of which has been in his family since the early 1800s. He and his wife have two children, Rose Lambert-Sluder (who is pursuing an MFA in creative writing at the University of Oregon and who contributed many photos to Amazing Asheville, Easy Belize and other of Sluder's books) and Brooks Lambert-Sluder, a Harvard grad who is head of the peer advising fellows program at Harvard.
