Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in a small town in northern Michigan. Almost all families in the community were poor we didn't know it at the time because every one was in the same financial positions. As children dad would show us how to do things, sometimes as simple as hammering a nail. We fixed the car or lawn mower what ever needed fixed. As young adults we went to public high school, our school had shop classed mechanical and wood, this expanded my mechanical horizons. The shop classes had equipment I had never seen before, and my thirst for more knowledge began.
When did you first start writing?
Working as an engineer writing workers instructions and assembly manuals was always part of the job. Writing about something that interests me began when I suddenly found my self without work and near retirement. The winters are long in the Michigan snow belt My Girlfriend of 10 years is disabled and bound to a wheelchair. I became very bored and started writing an eBook spending time doing this makes days go by faster, especially in dead of winter.
I find eBooks rewarding and a great way to spend winter days.
