Nard J

Biography

Hello Smashwords audience, my name is Dennard Johnson. The pen name I use is Nard J. Right now I am twenty-six years old. I first started writing at the age of seventeen. I didn't really know how to write or what to write, I just knew that I wanted to write at some point in life. My first few projects didn't pan out because I just didn't take as much interest in them. I was starting college and working full time. I joined the military, then got sidetracked even more. It wasn't until recently that I got the time to actually sit down and put my thoughts on paper and learn how to write.
To get a little bit more personal about myself: I grew up in a single parent home and was essentially an only child. I did have older siblings, but they were years older than me. In school I was an all-around athlete and student, however, I wasn't great, but I was above average in just about everything I participated in. In college, I changed my major three different times. First I studied Agriculture, then History and finally Software Engineering. I enjoyed all three, but neither could hold my attention longer than a semester or two. My passion has always been writing and being in control of the words and thoughts in my mind. I hope that you all enjoy the work that I publish here and let me know what you think about it.

Smashwords Interview

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in a small town in Arkansas called Pine Bluff. It's 30 minutes south of Little Rock on I-530. Growing up there, if you weren't into sports, there wasn't much to do outside of school. I took that time to start dabbling in writing short stories and poems, until I got sidetracked trying to find my way. I went through a lot, but it has shaped me and gave me a lot of things to write about in a fiction style.
When did you first start writing?
I first started writing in when I was around 17 years old, but I stopped for a while, then started writing again around the age of 24.
