Smashwords Interview

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up on a farm in the Bristol Hills of western New York.. I learned about horses, cattle sheep and other livestock, first hand from my grandfather, Chad Cull. I learned to shoe horses and car for them, for we were behind the times and used horses and old fashioned equipment for farming. We didn't have electricity until 1952.
When did you first start writing?
I was writing when I went to first grade and my teacher would read my stories to the class. I wrote for the school paper and wrote a play for one of the high school classes to perform. i was published in Jack and Jill and Practical English magazine.I also submitted screenplays to The Restless Gun starring John Payne in the 1950s. As an adult i wrote four action adventure novels in the tradition of Alistair MacLean. None were published. I still have a draft of two of them. Another one was hand written and never typed. The other one was never finished. Life and having to make a living got in the way and I didn't write again until 2003 0r05, I'm not sure. i have since written 13 western noels and one mystery novel.
