Biography

Sara Hardy is a biographer, playwright - and now novelist. Born in the UK, Sara trained in theatre and dance at Dartington College of Arts in the mid-1970s and performed with various alternative/feminist/gay theatre companies in London – notably Gay Sweatshop (the first professional gay theatre company in Britain) - as well as Hormone Imbalance, and Half Moon Young Peoples Theatre. She has lived in Australia since 1981.
Sara's debut novel - 'A Secretive Life' - shines a unique light on the glittering but dangerous LGBTQ+ underworld that hid in plain sight throughout most of the 20th century. It's set in London, Weimar Berlin and Melbourne (Sara's home city) and has been described as 'moving, sexy and funny'.
Sara enjoys riding her bike, gardening, daydreaming, and of course reading a delicious book.
