When did you first start writing?
I've been a creator all my life. I remember one of my first creations was at some point in elementary school. I remember the story having leprechauns, ogres, and the protagonist having the ability to grow giant mushrooms. Now that I mention it, my teacher read it to the class, and I guess it could be considered my first hit!
What's the story behind your latest book?
I returned to school when I was a bit older, and for six years I wrote and read strictly for academic purposes. By the time I penned my thesis on The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, I decided that I wanted to write something for myself. I applied the world-building skills I had researched, sprinkled in a fresh spin on magic, and focused on getting to know well-developed, memorable characters who soon found themselves deciding their own fate. I find it truly amazing just how much agency and free will characters gain once the creator blows life into them. The writing came easy as I just recorded their journey.
