Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in a rural setting in the North Central Region of Nigeria. My upbringing reflected real hard work to fend for our daily needs. I was not given the opportunity to obtain secular education as my father withdrew me barely two years into primary education. After staying in the farm for one year I had to rebelled, so to say, against my father's decision and sent my self back to school when he travelled. After the completion of primary education I was not allowed to proceed to secondary school. I had to run away from my community after some years of being in the farm. I started life as a street boy without a home then a house boy from where I got myself sent to school. I did secondary school speedily yet got a distinction. I did Cambridge Advanced Level and passed well. Then proceeded to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where I read Economics and came out with First Class Honours. I was compelled by the university to stay back in the university and that how I became a lecturer and I later progressed my education to PhD level in Management Sciences of the University of Ilorin where I also lectured.
I worked in three banks rising to the top of the professional cadre and also contested the governorship position of my state. The root of my success can be traced to my rejection of status quo and philosophy of life of accepting responsibility for ones situation. This is what has influenced the writing of my book that we should accept responsibility for the situation of our country and be ready to change it to a country we can be proud of. Same for the entire black race hence the use of Blackman's Revolution.
