Interview with Sherique Dill

When did you first start writing?
When I was a teenager, I would always get a pen and a piece of paper to capture my emotions and my thoughts. About four to five years ago I reconnected to my passion. At my work there was a gentleman who would show me his books, then he ask me a question that would change my life, "have you ever thought about writing a book?" At first I smiled, then would say with little confidence ," One day I'll get there". Deep down inside I did have a longing to write, but I didn't thought that I could do it, or that anyone would want to read what I had to say, because I'm just an ordinary person. My confidence was on trial. One day a strong emotion came over me because I was consistently displeased about the direction of my life. Something was missing, I was living a life outside of purpose, I had no clarity about the purpose for my life. It was at this point when I made the decision to just to express myself without hesitation. To write exactly what I was feeling and the challenges I faced and this was the birth of "Created to Stand Out Not Fit in," my first published book.
What's the story behind your latest book?
My latest and sensational book, "Created to Stand Out Not Fit In" promotes self love and self appreciation. It addresses the issue of following the crowd or duplicating other people. Too many people are conforming to the standards of others and compromising their own values and principles just to be accepted and loved by organizations, families and friends. In addition the purpose of "Created to Stand Out Not Fit In" is to help readers discover purpose so that they can lead and STAND OUT from the crowd. It also teaches to embrace who and what you are, because difference is what makes the world a much brighter place.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
1. Ownership 2. Flexibility 3. Diversification
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
To be able to transfer my thoughts, ideas and emotions to others. Words are immortal and it makes me feel great to see what I have produced and that it can be transferred to generations after I am gone. In addition, it fulfills me, I can write all day, passion flows for it like a river. It is something that my children can be proud of because I would have left behind a great legacy, one that shows for itself. I feel a high sense of confidence when I write, I see my highest potential also. When I write I feel a high sense of importance because I know that I have the ability to leave my mark of the walls of people's heart!!
What do your fans mean to you?
I have a high sense of value for my fans. Without them (readers) my work would be in vain. What sense is it to have a book and no one reads it? My gift/gifts were given to serve humanity, it is not for my selfish gain, so I cherish them, it is a privilege to have someone inspired by me and my works. The most important thing in my writing career is for me to connect with my fans because I want to know how I have inspired them, I want to hear their input, this is worth more to me than the funds in my purse.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I'm driven by 'Purpose'. I'm excited to get out of bed because I have found my divine calling. The moment I get up, purpose is on my mind, when I go to bed at night, purpose is on my mind, I am addicted to it, I am hooked on it like a patient addicted to drugs. When I can't 'write' I have withdrawal symptoms. Every moment that I have I want to use it to write, it adds joy and sanctification to my life. I'm now focus and have clear directions for my life. Also, I am directed by vision. I know the things that I must accomplish and so I practice self discipline and I work hard to get what I want.
What are you working on next?
Currently, I'm working on the Audio for " Created to Stand Out not Fit in". Most often I find that people don't like to read or they don't have the time to read. So I'm making it convenient for them.
