Biography

We are a group of veteran design professionals with years of experience and we call ourselves Designers Insights. The idea behind creating a web site and writing a book came from the fact that we were noticing over the past decades, a steady decline in the quality of print design. We think this is simply because basic print design knowledge is no longer being passed along to the current generation of designers.

Why? Well to begin with, the graphic design basics are no longer being taught in schools. Secondly, along with uploading and downloading our designs, this precious knowledge has got lost in the mix and will soon be gone like many other crafts in our industry. We felt it was urgent to act now because losing this craftsmanship would be a real tragedy for all graphic designers.

That’s why Designers Insights thought the timing was perfect and we would correct this by making available to every graphic designer this basic print knowledge, which was previously passed from master to apprentice, by launching a website and by combining our years of on-the-job professional knowledge in a book. Our intention with the website was to provide creative inspiration by showcasing today’s best designers and to create a truly one-of-a-kind collection of graphic design resources that we’ve carefully-researched, simplified, condensed and gathered in one convenient place for daily review. This information will be of real value in your day-to-day job regardless of where you practice graphic design on the globe. The main objective with our site and book is to preserve the skills and knowledge that made graphic design a great profession in the first place.

Our book How to Succeed as a Graphic Designer was written with the objective of adding 20 years of on-the-job professional knowledge to any designer regardless of their experiences or skill level. This is especially important today, since a lot of graphic designers are freelancing and don’t have the opportunity of being part of a professional creative team and to really live and feel what it’s like to work in a studio environment, interacting with creative people, clients, sharing and developing ideas, and growing daily creatively.

We have achieved this by making this valuable, easy-to-understand information free and accessible to everyone on our website. Our mission will continue by sharing our passion, by preserving high standards of design, by offering education and training, by providing professional knowledge along with up-to-date resources and last, but most important… by showcasing creative inspiration.
