Biography

In "Blast from Your Past! Rock & Roll Radio DJs: the First Five Years 1954-1959" I describe myself honestly as a country-gal-gone-city. Moving to the city may also be the deciding factor that delayed my writing career by twenty-five years (any shrinks out there care to speculate?).

I simply had too much fun to finish college, and at nineteen in the late Sixties, found myself as a wife and mother of adventurous twin boys. Nope, I never burned my bra and made it through the Psychedelic era without ever partaking of "mother's little helper."

Decades of left-brain executive level office administration, though, eventually left me artistically stagnant. Feeling the void, I put my creative right brain and early journalism studies to the test, and in 1995 tentatively sought magazine assignments.

My immediate acceptance into the writing and publishing world had me kicking myself, wondering what life would have been like, if I’d stuck with my writing. But as Ol’ Blue Eyes once warbled, “Regrets, I’ve had a few … but I did it my way.” And I’m a firm believer of looking forward not back, with a forgiving philosophy that you can’t live your life on wishful thinking and coulda-woulda-shoulda regrets.

I wrote for regional magazines in Arizona and California, and eventually worked with a small press publisher in Phoenix before returning to my beloved San Diego in 2007, after twelve long, soul-sucking years in the desert.

Although Phoenix offered some interesting avocations – like eight seasons working with the media at the Arizona State Fair, a stint as a Jeep tour guide in the outback, and a super-fun gig as weekend radio announcer at the largest outdoor market – I now write with the Pacific Ocean in view as well as in my heart, and offer insights to authors through book editing and consulting.

Whenever possible I refresh my muse in adventures along the ocean’s edge and when boating, as far out to sea as the day allows.

Thanks for enjoying the moment again … with me.
