Lula Flann

Biography

Lula Flann, a devotee of head-turning ensembles and witty women, writes Cozy-Noir from her home in Portland’s Alberta Arts District. A mad sketcher of clothing inspirations since receiving a collection of paper doll templates, Lula is drawn to patterns that make for psychologically colorful characters as well as clever wardrobe creations.

Lula depends on her well-read book group to steer her to authors more contemporary than Eliot and James, Oregon’s landscape to lure her out backpacking or byway-riding and upon her fascinating wife to be ever open to the delights of loving an Enneagram 9.

Smashwords Interview

What are you working on next?
As of January 2016, I'm working on the third in the Mata Morrow series, Bootstrapped. There is a whole plan for the series but one thing I love about writing is that the characters and plot take on a life of their own. So while I have a notion of how things will develop, sometimes even I'm surprised.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
The arc of the story in process while I'm writing and the opportunity to interact with readers via social media.

Mata Morrow Mysteries
Accidental sleuth, Mata Morrow, and her savvy book group lean in to solve mysteries in and around the Pacific Northwest. Based in Portland, Oregon but taking entrepreneurial adventuring on the road from Berlin to Barcelona to Hanapepe when friends and family are threatened, the group provides the sleuthing necessary for justice and retribution. While the literature they dissect often provides a parallel of discovery, it is their friendships and bad-assed skills that result in proper endings. Mata's move to Portland plants the seeds of her MmPorium line in Oregon's fertile ground for creatives. A fashion-forward lesbian creating a much-needed line of versatile travel wear, Mata kickstarted a social network in her new hometown, and used MeetUp to launch a women-only book group that bonds over the diverse work of women authors. Friendships are forced to grow quickly when presented with abductions and murder. Where surprise partnerships are formed and alliances made, strange bedfellows are sure to follow. Join Mata and her moxie band of book lovers as they parse literature and crimes rooted in the dark drivers of human nature. Especially recommended for the lit-loving.
