Smashwords Interview

What's the story behind your latest book?
When we adopted older children with special needs, we knew we would encounter some negative behaviors. Our son at the time he had been placed with us, had been in 13 different homes between the ages of 5 (when he was removed from his birth home) and the age of 8 when he joined our family. We knew the history of animal abuse, fire starting and other significant challenges we could face. This book was written to share some of the techniques and tools we used to help our son work through those stages of self acceptance and feeling as though he belonged in our family.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I have been writing stories since I was about 7 years old. The first story I recall writing was about a cat and was for a class project. My story was of course written on that extra wide lined paper for grade schooler's (at least at that time), and as I recall, it was 7 pages long, with each page taped to the other and then scrolled up very nicely. I have had several fictional stories published in the traditional paper magazines and on zines as well as numerous non-fiction articles.
