Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
The first story I remember reading as a child was Charlotte's Web. It is still a favorite of mine today and I have read it to my children. I think it touches on many areas that as a child I could not appreciate. It depicts the importance of compassion, empathy, love and friendship which are all crucial elements in everyone's life.
How do you approach cover design?
I think cover design is a very important element of a book. Even though we are all taught not to judge a book by its cover; we do. I have an amazing cover artist that I worked with for Hope Is Within Reach: Overcoming the Challenges of Autism Spectrum Disorder and The Irish Princess and the Pearls of Eetanam. She took my story elements and created an amazing representation of my books.
I designed the covers for the LOOK & LEARN Book Series for Visual Learners because I have a background in graphic art and I wanted a simple cover which represents the books simplicity for children.
