Lea Anne Daughrity
Biography
Lea Anne currently serves as the Elementary Technology Facilitator for McKinney ISD in McKinney, TX. She began her teaching career as a science and technology teacher in Pasadena, Texas. Her early teaching allowed her to quickly understand the importance of technology integration and 21st century learning. With a strong background in technology, she was quick to become a leader in her school and eventually her district.
Today, Lea Anne leads the way in many new and exciting challenges for the district of MISD. She helped begin a district wide initiative called Tech Stars, encouraging teachers to step outside of their comfort zone by incorporating free web 2.0 tools right in their curriculum. In one year, almost every classroom elementary teacher in MISD, has taken the challenge and the classroom results have been amazing. Students are excited to come to school because technology no longer shuts off at the schoolhouse door.
Lea Anne has helped to begin a 1:1 initiative in the district in several different formats including laptops, ipads and ipod touches. Her ability to create unique and innovative ways of learning for her teachers makes her an outstanding leader in the instructional technology field.
Currently Lea Anne serves as the Chairperson for the Texas Discovery Educator Network Leadership Council and has been on the council for 4 years. She serves as an Ambassador of teaching and learning for many virtual teacher networks including Glogster, Kerpoof, iEAR, Microsoft, Google, Intel and more.
In addition to continually demonstrating innovative ideas, Lea Anne enjoys sharing those ideas through speaking engagements around the country. She has had the opportunity to speak at such conferences as ISTE, TCEA, Promethean Pasadena, Promethean Ft. Worth, Region 4, Region 10 and most recently was asked to give an impromptu lesson during Allen November’s Leadership Summit at Region 10. Her spark for learning and her joy in sharing makes her a unique and vibrant addition to any venue.
