The author was born in Prague, Czech Republic, where she lived and studied till the late nineties when she moved to California to work as a scientist in drug discovery, first in academic and then industrial sector. She received a Master's degree in Material Science (the expertise of the main character of her book), PhD in Organic Chemistry, and has many years of experience in Medicinal Chemistry. She authored and co-authored over thirty professional papers in peer-reviewed journals and books.

The main character is drawn into a criminal investigation of a murder and the circumstances guide her around Europe, from the Mediterranean and Turkey to Normandy in a historical parallel that reveals the reality behind a modern-day mystery of Saint Wenceslaus' helmet.
