Biography

Like most people I don't enjoy talking about myself. In fact, although I received an 'A' in my public speaking course in college, I'm convinced my professor took pity on me. So to keep myself out of the public eye, and my mouth firmly closed as it should be, I stay behind my computer and live in my imaginary world filled with imaginary people who all think I'm cool. It gives me an ego boost for when my son tells me I'm so not.

I thought about writing a "serious, gown-up" bio, but I'm not really a serious grown-up. So here are some of the more normal things about me:

I can't write without a hoodie. Yeah, I live it Texas. I didn't say I'd make sense.

I do all my writing in men's pajama pants. I even wear them to the corner store if I need milk or whatever. This totally embarrasses my kids and makes me incredibly happy. I strive to embarrass my kids at least once a day. It's my God given right after going through labor.

I'm a horrible speller. Spell check and I are good buddies.

I majored in accounting in college. I was required to declare a major, but I had no clue what I wanted to do, so I picked accounting because it was the first thing listed in the booklet the counselor gave me. I did carry a 4.0 GPA, though. Go figure.

Forget coffee. Hand over the Red Bull or Monster Khaos and no one gets hurt. Seriously, just set it down and step away. I will morph into a normal human after I guzzle my can of caffeine.

I hate to cook, but love to watch cooking shows on television.

I paint my nails weird colors just to see my husband roll his eyes and make my 9 year-old twin girls giggle, and, of course, mortify my 13 year-old son. This fits in the embarrassing them at least once a day category, too.

I'm a hopeful romantic and love swoon-worthy endings that keep the butterflies going for days, but I don't believe a HEA always ends with the boy getting the girl. Sometimes a HEA is an ending we don't see coming, but is still best for the characters.

I write across genres in the young adult and new adult age groups while eating way too many peanut butter M&Ms (but we'll keep that second part just between us).

I was born and raised in Flint, Michigan, but now live in a suburb of Houston, TX with my very supportive family, a 125lb rescue "puppy" and a 12lb attack cat, also a rescued pet.

And last, but never least, I'd love to hear from you. So drop me an email! Let's chat. You tell me what you like in books, what you'd like to see happen in the writing community, what type of books you'd like to see more of... less of... I want to hear it all.

So tell me. Because the one thing I wish I could put on my list, but I still haven't figured it out yet, is mind reading. But don't tell my kids. I still have them fooled.

“Breathe. No one will break me. I’m strong. Breathe. Just breathe.” On the outside, Willow appears to have it all. She’s beautiful, smart, from an influential family, and she dates the most popular guy in school—Jaden. But she would walk away from it all in a second. Willow is tormented by lies and suffocating guilt, not the hearts and flowers people believe her life is full of. She carries a dark secret. Plagued by nightmares and pain, the secret dominates her life. If she hadn’t walked away. If she had just… but she didn’t. And now she has to live with her choices. But when someone uncovers her family’s past, they use it against her, crushing her spirit little by little. She tells herself she just has to make it to graduation. Then she can leave Middleton, and her secret, far behind. When Brody transfers to Cassidy High, he turns Willow’s life upside down. He shows her what it feels like to live again, really live. And suddenly, she isn’t satisfied with just surviving until graduation. She wants a normal life—with Brody—and he wants her.
