Deolis Allen

Biography

Highland Park, Michigan native MyCreed graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a degree in African American Studies and English Written Communication. Through his studies and escape from Highland Park, he gained a new perspective and developed an ideology he labeled World Orphan. Many black people identify themselves with a whole continent, a phenomena unique to victims of the transatlantic slave trade. As displaced people, our experiences are unique, even the common everyday struggles that aren't discussed. The World Orphan movement has a goal to captivate these struggles and attack the conditions binding us to poverty and pain. One of our most common struggles--and a prevalent theme in the World Orphan books--is finding and keeping love, dysfunctional moral values, adapting to a drug culture and understanding where we are going in our lives as individuals and as a people.
