Tom Odgen Keenan

Biography

I write because I just won’t do anything else. Thirty years as a social worker in mental health care was my apprenticeship in understanding people and the dynamics that occur between them. It informs my writing. I live in Glasgow, Scotland, which has a rich tradition: the ‘Tartan Noir’ in crime writing. It is a dynamic city, with the kind of conflicts and characters which are a rich vein for a writer. In Nomine Patris ... is my first major literary work; however, I have my head, heart and soul into my second book. If you think my debut novel is a blast, my second novel is being rolled up to the launching pad! My objective is to get you hooked!

Smashwords Interview

What is your writing process?
I try to write each day; however, this depends on when I get my brain into writing mode. I maybe read a bit, edit a bit, browse a bit, answers emails and do the work which pays the bill; then I get down to writing which tends to be in the evening. Of a weekend I luxuriate in writing when the whole day Saturday or Sunday is free.
How do you approach cover design?
I felt comfortable designing my own cover. Using PowerPoint 2010 Using SmartArt and text boxes on a slide, I added in my description and pitch summary. I accessed a professional image through the Internet and put it all together at the size and quality specifications, and saved it in PDF and JPEG. I hope you like it.
