Reviews of The Shortcut

by
Shortcuts, we all take them, cutting across a street, or across town. But some shortcuts can be dangerous, and better left alone, especially one through a cemetery. Laura took one, and now knows why. Short story which needed to be only 600 words in length.

This is an evenly-paced, suspenseful short story which has some entertaining surprises at the very end. It builds well, and makes the most of its spare length to maximum effect.

I was not expecting such a good story in so few words. This is very well done. I also disagree with one of the reviewers who said "The motivations for Laura to do what she does seems unsound." Gee, I guess they missed what was going on entirely! This is a great short and would love to see a much longer one, even a novel.

This was a great short story! Needing to do a story in only 600 words is quite a challenge, and this author did it very well. I could feel the cold within the fog, and the fright they felt. A great twist ending too. Love those!

I was so not expecting this! And, because of that, I loved it!!
Let me be frank, please. The storyline was absolutely NOT predictable... And, her motivations... well... the story is true to the concept. It's not something she could avoid... ever again.
Great story... though creepy!!!

Have no idea why one of the reviews couldn't understand Laura's "motivations." Made perfect sense to me! Great short story.
