I first came across Jeff's work through the magic of flickr and was astonished at the beauty and variety of his photographs. He's also a thoughtful and friendly contact in flickr, always willing to share advice and praise. I'm sure his images of the park were my primary motivation for deciding to visit Grand Tetons for the first time last fall. And they are calling to me again.
I had only a vague idea of the places to visit and photograph on that first trip, and after reading the book cover-to-cover in one day, I now know what I missed! Jeff's writing style is friendly and conversational, but he leaves out no detail - from where to stay and eat, to when to visit each place to catch the best light. He also scatters in technical advice about lenses, aperture, DOF, tripods, etc. The only thing I found lacking was the omission of any maps. I think it would have been a simple matter to scan in a few maps of the general area, with more detailed area maps for the photo destinations (but what do I know - I've never written an e-book....)
I downloaded the Kindle version which will be handy to have on my Kindle the next time I visit, but you can also read the Kindle version on your PC/laptop and have the benefit of being able to enjoy Jeff's breathtaking images in wonderful living color!
So far, all reviewers are in unison in rating this a 5-star book. It's thoroughly researched, well written and a must-have whether you're just an armchair traveller or planning your next trip.
