She has been spreading this message of peace, harmony and understanding through book readings at schools and libraries in the U.S. and Canada.
When did you first start writing?
I have been making up poems, songs and stories as long as I can remember. So I guess I started writing them as soon as I could - about 2nd grade.
What's the story behind your latest book?
My first book, CHICKENS ON THE GO! had developed a unique relationship with my fan base, and these wonderful people kept asking for more. Since the book had already addressed racial and cultural harmony, the next step seemed to be something about social acceptance. Hence, CHICKENS IN THE KNOW! came to be.
CHICKENS IN THE KNOW! is a wonderfully illustrated, 40 page children's book. It describes chickens of various occupations such as beauticHENS, physicHENS, HENgineers, etc. It teaches children that EVERY job is important, and we should all take pride in what we do.
CHICKENS ON THE GO! introduces children to various cultures around the world through delightful depictions of CanadiHENS, AfricHENS, MexicHENS and more. The book is fun and colorfully illustrated, peppered with humor that even adults will enjoy. It emphasizes racial and cultural harmony.
