What motivated you to become an author?
I regard myself as an avid reader and thus writing often follows naturally to my reading experiences. Besides, writing about issues has always helped me put my thoughts into better perspective. I have found writing to be a good form of emotional release. Often, in the process of trying to make sense of issues through writing, I would find that I inadvertently have written a good story that I had no idea could come out of my silent expressions.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote? What was it about?
Yes, I clearly do. Though I never got to have the manuscript published, but it was about my mother's life story. I intended to have the book presented to her on her 80th birthday but the laptop on which I had the draft crashed and the draft could not be retrieved. I was told, it would be impossible to retrieve because the motherboard had been damaged. I still have plans though to write the book afresh as a way to honour her legacy and for the generations to know the story of this phenomenal woman who was their great grandmother.
