Introduce yourself!
My name is Eric Gutierrez Jr. and I am a writer based in Laredo, Tx. I also code when I'm not writing. I usually write more than I code so I can't say I'm a professional at it, but it's something i' very passionate about.
Also Funko Pop collector!
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up close to the border of Mexico, so I tend to slip more Hispanic things to my recent works, mostly names like Sam Guevara in Devil Sunrise. I really didn't feel comfortable about it when I was younger, but as I got older I realized that I should be more proud of it and use it to my advantage.
But it was mostly the fact that we were probably the last city to "let go" of pulp fiction, so I was able to read a bunch of them from the secondhand stores. Maybe that single-handedly blessed my writing.
