D W

Biography

"Words are art"- DW
A Florida native, Dezmond Wheeler grew up in the small but renowned horse town of Ocala,FL. Influenced by early childhood books that were often read at school or a neighbor's, he developed a passion for writing. Dabbling in the realm of music, some of D.W.'s earliest written pieces were poems or what he thought were music lyrics.
"I never grasped writing in 16ths. So I would just tell stories over the instrumentals. Some where good. Others where good just not for that moment. I would write too in-depth for a song, so I started using them as poems."
After the dabble in music not panning out, he enrolled in the College of Central Florida then transferred to Florida Gulf Coast University, where he gained his BBA.
"More writing than I could imagine and it wasn't even fun. During this transition, I wrote a lot about personal life, so I have journals, typed notes, and pieces of paper with ideas. The university did serve as an outlet for my spoken talent. The groups and student run organizations on campus would host Spoken Word events or talent shows and I would often perform the written pieces."
When I write or release a piece it's simply sharing my experience in hopes to create one for the reader.
