I'm a designer, book illustrator, cartoonist, artist and writer.

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?

I grew up in the small gold mining town of Krugersdorp in South Africa and although the town itself had very little influence on my writing, my English school teacher,a Mrs. Orsmond, went out of her way to encourage me to write and to improve my grammar. She never criticized what I wrote but instead asked me to explain what I had written and why I had written it that particular way. This had the effect of making me think more about what I was writing and lead me to write more clearly and precisely.

When did you first start writing?

Although I've always had a strong attraction for the English language I only started writing seriously in my sixties.
