We are interested in people, history, the military, economics ... Our experiences have been eclectic which is one way to say that we've lived a lot of places and done a lot of things. Although we've never served, we know the military, esp. how wars are fought and the necessary planning. We have strong opinions.

And like the Brotherhood of Zoran, our "We" is made up of individuals.

  This book is bubbling over with ideas and lush descriptions. However, the characters feel like puppets. The plot development suffers badly from the abrupt introduction of heavy explanations of the history and technology leading to the story.

  As Sword and Sorcery goes, this story is pretty good. It's well written and fast paced. The characters are intriguing. The ending is odd: two wanted felons essentially take the commuter bus home after saving the city. It's a short story so I'm willing to suspend my questions about the back story.

  A nicely plotted story, but a little cavalier in throwing away characters. Leni is a bit disingenuous for a bastard daughter who has known all her life that she's going to die. Also, the aid she receives is all a bit deus ex machina.
