What is your writing process?
I write one book at the time. It takes a few hours to write a children story, but a novel can take a few weeks. Once I finish writing, I try to forget about the book and come back to it in a week time. I usually order a cover then. After a week I read through the book and make changes if required. I usually spent a few hours per day on writing which is preceded by many days of thinking about the plot, the characters, the genre. I never know the ending of the novel. I let the story live its own life and take me to the end. The story has to flow; nothing forced there. Once I’m finished with the book, I never come back to it. I start thinking about the next book.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I read my first story when I was seven. It was “The Ugly Duckling” which was my favourite story. I knew it well as it was read to me many times before, but the fact I read it myself made me very happy. It was one of the greatest achievements of my early childhood.
