Ari Meier

Biography

Drawing has been a passion of mine since learning to draw things as random as Santa Clauses and gas stations at age 3. At age 9; I started the process of teaching myself piano. Never mind that this was a graduation of sorts from my previous claim to musical fame of playing shoeboxes and a globe using pencils; but this next piano phase left my mom as equally unimpressed in my musical skills.

In my early teens, I started writing poetry and then later, my first story (a horror story inspired by “The Shining”). Although it was only 10 pages, the few people that ‘dared’ to read it, claimed that it was really scary. The piano playing got better after learning to play a few pop songs of the day.

A few years later, I bought some canvas and oil paints, painted and decided that this ‘felt almost’ as good as drawing and sketching. I painted many pieces and sold a few, one of which was a huge mural for an apartment complex where I was living in at the time (this paid my rent for 3 months). I joined and started bands and collaborated with quite a few great musicians and eventually composed over 400 songs, many in different genres. But whatever genre I’m doing, be assured that it will have some experimental layer on it. I started the indie rock band, blue.math in summer 2014.

Smashwords Interview

When did you first start writing?
I started writing at the age of 16. It was a horror story inspired by "The Shining".
What's the story behind your latest book?
I've always attracted people to tell me about their relationship stories and issues. After many years and two marriages, I was inspired to share my personal relationship stories. It was time for women to see the BS behind the whole playa mentality and myth; that it's NOT what it's portrayed as. This book is part autobiography and erotica written using essays and poetry, with stories ranging from my own relationship stories to my interviewing women cheaters, all while sneaking in the message that so-called playas are mostly living a big lie and they're mostly insecure guys desiring real love.
