Smashwords Interview

What motivated you to become an indie author?
For as long as I can remember, I have always been writing. It started as a young child and by the time I was 15 I was writing fan fiction as a way to get the ideas out of my head and on paper. Almost twenty years and a whole lot of stories and fan fiction later, I decided it was time to share my love of writing with the world.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy that I get from writing is seeing the world that until that time has been only in my head, come to life. Seeing these characters walking, talking and experiencing the ups and downs of life is a powerful thing. it brings me great joy to see that come to fruition.

  • Elven Jewel (book 1 in the Hunters of Reloria series) on May 02, 2014

I should start off by saying Elven Jewel is the first book of Hunters of Reloria trilogy. It is not a standalone which I honestly didn't pay attention to when I started reading it. So now, I have to pick up the other books because WOW. It can't just end there for me. Here are my thoughts on this story. I haven't ready a fantasy book in ten years. Sad but true. I've read paranormal fantasy I suppose, but there was always more of a romantic undertone to it. Actual fantasy, where there is more focus put on the various creatures, battles and other's been far too long. I am beyond glad that this was the book that got me back into it. I've always been impressed by Fantasy writers because there is so much detail needed in making these worlds come to life, as well as characters. My hat is off to Kasper as this was done brilliantly. The characters were strong, the locations described in such a powerful way it was as if at times I was right there in the heat of battle with them. Certain characters stood out more than others and Asher! Ah! I did not see that coming. Wow. I laughed as I read along, I cried (oh did I cry at one certain point) but most of all I was completely swept up in the story and each of the characters put forth within it. This is a brilliant read, for any fan of fantasy it is a must read, but it's really for all readers in general based on how well it is written. I enjoyed it immensely and I can't wait to get started on the next one! Thank you Kasper Beaumont for bringing me back into the world of Fantasy!
  • Short Fuse on Sep. 20, 2017

I enjoyed this! The idea of a guy that treats his wife and every other woman within his general range, and even in his employ like crap, getting his just desserts in whatever manner that may be, especially after going to a psychic and being told about it before it happens, brilliant. The writing style was well done, and it moved along very quickly and not only because it was a short story. My only real complaint here, to be totally honest is, this story, the idea of it, has such potential to be an even better read, by extending its length. Whether that be novella length or even full-length novel, and I felt that not having the background even more than we could have if it had been written in a longer way, led to a little bit of a disconnect. Not a total one, it was still very enjoyable and I got what I was after with what I said above, but I think it would have been even more gripping if it had been dragged out into a longer piece. My thanks to the author and all others involved in letting me read this story. I enjoyed it and I hope to read and see more from this author in the future.
  • From Within the Light on Feb. 06, 2019

Oh boy. I had an idea of what I was getting into with this story with the kick start to the heart the Prologue gives, along with the introduction of two of the main players in Cassie and Kale. But, I was in no way, shape or form ready for the ride I was taken on. One of the biggest draws for me to this story was the angelic angle. It's been so incredibly long since I have been able to sit down and read a paranormal/fantasy/supernatural novel which stars angels, and inevitably demons and devils, as well. Another hook to this story was how they weren't invincible. They had faults and things about them that much like humans, makes them who they are. It added an element of connection that with novels of this type, I often don't find myself having. The family and how involved all of them were in the story. How it wasn't a chosen one concept, but a family affair all across the board (even with all of the surprises that threw me for a loop later in the story), was a nice change. Also the relationship between brother and sister, their closeness beyond just being "family" was phenomenally written and bonded me even more to them. Throughout this story I found it impossible to guess where things would go, which I will give an immense amount of credit to the author for, because sometimes its not easy to keep the action going, to keep the ending hidden until you're ready to reveal it, but it was done here and very well. I haven't had a book in a long time that's kept me guessing all the way throughout, so for that alone, this story wins. I will admit that in the beginning of this novel, after the rush of the Prologue, the pacing took quite a bit of a hit, which I do believe had a lot to do with amount of detail, especially as the story gained its footing. It was a little rough to get through, but once past, it took off and there was no looking back. At no stage did I feel it was such a problem I couldn't finish the story, though. If anything, given the genre of story this is, a lot of detail is what makes it work. Overall, this is a story I am beyond thrilled to have taken the time to read and try, especially since the author before this was unknown to me. I'm also excited with the knowledge that sometime in the future, there will be more with these characters. I'm looking forward to seeing what awaits them next. With that being said, this story doesn't end in a cliffhanger but it does seem to have an open ended feel to it. Like, you just know there's more for Cassie, more for Kale, and the entire gang on the horizon. 5 Divine Stars!!
