Sandy Grissom

Sandy Grissom
has loved books all her life. That love began by listening to her older sister read when she was still too young to discover the magic for herself. She’s read everything from history to the phone book but her favorite authors are James Michener, Agatha Christie and the mystic William Blake.

Over the years, romantic novels became a favorite. The top of that list is Pride and Prejudice. When she retired she had too much time on her hands and spent too much money and trips to the library to get books in order to satisfy her restless soul. It was then she began to write herself.

As an adult she held a variety of jobs, all of them grist for her imaginative mind. The occupations in Choppy Waters will hopefully inspire someone to fight for their own dreams, to never give up on themselves or on love.

A widow, Sandy recently moved to southern Indiana where she lives near the younger of her two beloved sisters.

I so envy those who write poetry that touches me. Special Effects does just that. It makes a person think but more than that it tells me a lot about the author. First Amendment is my favorite. Meditate also on Semnatics and The Median. But it's all really good stuff.

A really good storyline with just enough angst for us to recall our personal insecurities and realate to the characters. Along with a love story that should not and could not be denied. I enjoyed it tremendously.

    Loved it.

    Readc slowly and savour it.
  • Summer Harvest on Nov. 29, 2012

The author has a good knowledge of issues that relate to farming families. That scenario sets the stage for intrigue and romance. It's a down to earth (no pun intended) story of lonely people in the midst of a trial by fire type of situation. That causes them to think less selfishly so that they learn more about the other as well as themselves so necessary for a relationship that will endure.
  • I'll Never Make Parole on May 27, 2013

A satirical look at what life is like working in a private prison as a salaried employee. In such an environment one would feel like they were imprisoned as well.

A good sample but I would have liked it to be longer to give more insight. Good for a quick reminder, though. One note: thorn in the side is used two or three times in the OT to mean menacing neighbors. I have no reason to think Paul meant anything other than that. It would account even more with the author's reasoning not to fear.

though not implicitly expressed, the author states the difference between walking in a carnal earthly nature vs walking spiritually, supernaturally within and above the physical. Good for him.

This is a very good read about people who all have issues as we all do. Those issues drive them to 'assume' about others and to make decisions that put them in peril. I understood each character's motivations and feelings and felt for them. I was able to follow the flow of the story very well. No rabbit trails. If you like a 2nd chance at love kind of story with real life going on around it, you will like this book.
