Smashwords Interview

Describe your desk
Sitting next to my husband after a long day at work, I write on a comfy green couch and use a pillow to balance my computer on my lap. I can hear the planes flying into Logan and the Harleys driving up and down the beach as I write.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I was blessed with a grandmother who bought me books and teachers who taught me the magic of writing in every year of school. I spent so much time at the public library that I was hired to be a book shelver at the Kenwood branch when I was in high school.

3 stars overall (for me, 3 stars means I liked the book and was satisfied), BUT 5 stars for a tender, heart-felt read and very satisfying happy ending. If you like a happy ending, this book is for you! Sweet, fun & quick read with a lot of tender moments. I wish there had been more "falling in love" scenes, but the reader definitely falls in love with the characters. I wasn't happy with the occasional internal dialog ending in (shut up), but I know what this was meant to do. It worked in a way, but it was so abrupt and rather out of the book's style that it was too jarring. Really great & heartfelt story. Really enjoyed it! Looking forward to reading more books by Carole McKee!

I really liked this book. The story had layers of deception, plenty of bad guys and asked a lot of great questions. There were some sections that dragged, but Rizzo Rosko is writer to watch and I'm looking forward to reading more of Rosko's books. My favorite scenes were the family quarrels and the moments of clarity where one character broke free of all the assumptions holding him/her back and did things his/her way. Expect the unexpected!
