The soul of a novel may evolve with its author. Here you will follow the evolution of a work from its first release to the final script.
I am particularly fond of the first one – Dreaming Immortality - for the variety of the characters, the range of Transhumanist issues and because it was actually my first creation. The novel is almost all the original version, which in my opinion contributes greatly in the charm of the work. In the last edition the dates to Technological Singularity, brain digitization, semi immortality and strong A.I. have been anticipated
The second version – The Alpha Centauri Project – is shorter but retains the main characteristics of the first work.
New developments were forthcoming. A few readers imagined how gorgeous would be the story in an animated or motion picture format and set a compelling challenge for me. I adapted soon characters and plot into a story of suspense and action that makes you think. "Evolution: the future" was born.
Recently my last creations. I am glad to announce the script of “The Alpha Centauri Project”.

CONSIDERATIONS

According to future studies, the world will be dominated soon by disruptive technologies, able to plunge humankind into an era of accelerated progress. Main outcomes will be the achievement of immortality, the creation of smarter than human artificial intelligences and the spread of the new species through the universe.

“Dreaming immortality” is a breathtaking story set in this near future altered almost beyond recognition by technology. Social and ethical issues as well as dreams and projects of the digital people are key drivers of the story. For digital beings aiming at eternal life, truth and collaboration are primary values; seeking exponential growth in knowledge and technology, avoiding conflicts and spreading into the universe their goals.
The passionate scenarios make the reader share the soul of the digital civilization. From this, a powerful comparison with our world emerges, that stripping away layer after layer of conventions and prejudices, leaves us at last face to face with the morals of a world that one day we might share.

Eve and Victoria, the main characters, are humans whose brain was digitized after death. They move in this context of epoch-making events, searching for identity. They become more and more involved in the hardship of the digital community to the point of rising to leaders. Finally, in a crescendo of drama, they merge their destiny with that of their new people.

End of the 21st century. Humans live on Earth and the Moon, last strongholds of their past power. Mars and the Net are inhabited by artificial intelligences and souls, these last obtained by digitizing the brain after death. The virtual reality allows the two races to communicate. Their differences are deep, their interest irreconcilable.
With biotechnology and digitization, humans have postponed real death to an indeterminate future, but they are not happy. Towards the virtual beings they feel admiration but also inferiority and envy.
The digital creatures instead cannot bear being relegated in worlds too small for their unbounded ambitions. Their Martian experience has allowed them to develop the competence necessary in extra-terrestrial environments, most of all to acquire the self-confidence indispensable for the colonization of other star systems. The Alpha Centauri project is born.
The mission obtains the humans’ support. In exchange the digital beings abandon the idea of expanding on the Earth. Just before departure, Earth Security intercepts a suspect message from the Space Agency. Terrorism? The evidence leads to the Elects, a sect that entered Net years before through a collective suicide...

  Milano, una multinazionale. Conflitti, alleanze. Abusi e contrasti. Mi è piaciuta molto questa cronaca impietosa di una giornata di tragica normalità, che culmina con un epilogo di intensa drammaticità, momento di catarsi per uno dei protagonisti. I capitoli brevi e lo stile asciutto, che scandiscono come lancette di un orologio le vicissitudini dei personaggi, si addicono perfettamente al contenuto.

  Come voi, mi riconosco in un'angelo umano. Gioisco nel comunicare con i miei simili. Condivido la concezione della vita come missione per evolvere verso livelli superiori. Mi impegno con fiducia affinchè questa concezione dell'esistenza si diffonda, sperando di contribuire alla nascita di una nuova civiltà. Le considerazioni finali del vostro "manuale" sono pregnanti: "Diventando Uno con la Vita, ognuno di noi può attingere alla stessa fonte di energia: più elevati saranno i nostri intenti, maggiore sarà l’energia che l’Uni-verso ci metterà a disposizione per soddisfarli. Nel riconoscere che il nostro unico e vero bene personale coincide con il Bene di tutti, si accende la nostra luce interiore: ed ecco che quando un essere umano si illumina e diventa Angelo Umano, la sua luce, come quella di un faro, si propaga tutt’intorno."

  Ambientazione: il pianeta rosso. Seconda missione su Marte per un viaggio di cui non è previsto il ritorno. Morti inspiegabili, sospetti. Il ricordo della prima missione, nessun superstite. La protagonista femminile fugge dalla base su un rover, attraversa il deserto marziano. Per sfuggire dai pericoli della base. Apparentemente senza meta… per dimenticare il suo passato…per suicidarsi? Le brucia il ricordo del padre che l’ha rinnegata. Così come lei ha rinnegato l’amore … Scende dal rover, incespica, scivola per una scarpata. Poi il risveglio in una stanza bianca. Una luce accecante. Voci umane, sconosciute. Sogno, realtà, morte, dove è finita? Suspense, azione, in un romanzo di Rita Carla Francesca Monticelli, che vi terrà incollati ad una trama avvincente. Attendo la seconda puntata!
  
• Deserto rosso - Nemico invisibile on Sep. 01, 2013
  
  Ho letto le tre opere di Rita Carla Francesca Monticelli con attenzione, trovandomi coinvolto sempre di più nell’ambientazione e nella storia. Già, perché man mano che avanzavo nella lettura, mi pareva di essere davvero su Marte, al punto di condividere con i personaggi i paesaggi ed i disagi dell’ambiente ostile. Grazie a Rita, Marte è oggi per me più familiare, tanto che, come i protagonisti, pensando al pianeta rosso, mi sento addirittura un po’ a casa. Detto questo, le mie congratulazioni all’autrice per l’ottima idea di aver suddiviso l’opera di per sé voluminosa in quattro “puntate”. Tale scelta si è rivelata un successo soprattutto per la qualità del lavoro, che mi ha coinvolto fin dall’inizio nell’ambientazione, nella storia e nel vissuto dei personaggi. Non solo, tale partecipazione è andata crescendo al punto che, arrivato alla terza “puntata” – la più recente, la quarta ed ultima uscirà a breve – mi trovo a partecipare con passione all’avventura dei personaggi in un crescendo di colpi scena che superano puntualmente le mie previsioni. Mi piace l’approfondimento psicologico. Ora conosco Anna, la protagonista, molto meglio di tanti con cui intrattengo rapporti quotidiani. So molto di lei, del suo passato e di cosa pensa. E’ un personaggio molto vivo, spesso fuori dalle righe e contradditorio, assolutamente non scontato. Il suo futuro non posso immaginarlo, data l’imprevedibile successione dei colpi di scena. Tuttavia, dal momento che Anna mi è veramente simpatica, sono sicuro che la sua storia finirà nel migliore dei modi. Mi rimane un dubbio. Chi sceglierà tra i suoi amori, ora che è diretta su un’astronave verso la Terra, in compagnia di uno dei due spasimanti, mentre l’altro l’aspetta sulla Terra, tormentato da mille dubbi? Jan o Hassan? Non escludo una terza soluzione… La quarta ed ultima puntata ci dirà dove la porterà il cuore.
  
• Deserto rosso - Ritorno a casa on Oct. 12, 2013
  
  Le mie congratulazioni a Rita Carla Francesca Monticelli per l’ottima idea di suddividere “Deserto rosso” – un’opera di per sé voluminosa - in quattro “puntate”. Tale scelta si è rivelata un successo soprattutto per la qualità del lavoro, che mi ha coinvolto fin dall’inizio nell’ambientazione, nella storia e nel vissuto dei personaggi. La quarta puntata è d’azione. I conflitti esplodono. Melissa persegue il suo intento spazzando via ogni ostacolo, mentre rivela i molteplici aspetti della sua natura. Anna è sconvolta da personalità opposte; fragile a tratti nevrotica, diventa sicura e calcolatrice quando è dominata da forze da cui non riesce a sottrarsi. Jan l’ama più di sé stesso, ma ora lei è cosi diversa… Come può essere la soluzione un matrimonio voluto per espiare errori passati e risolvere i problemi del presente? Hassan ha amato Anna fin dal primo momento, tanto che il loro legame supera tempo e distanza. Riuscirà il loro legame a rafforzarsi diventando stabile e duraturo? I protagonisti sono risucchiati nelle vicende della loro epoca – intrighi internazionali, la colonizzazione de Marte – da una storia di suspense che si snoda a ritmo incalzante attraverso eventi imprevedibili. In verità, il vero protagonista è l’umanità stessa, imperfetta nella conoscenza, piena di contraddizioni, lanciata come una locomotiva in corsa verso un futuro di progresso ma colmo di insidie. Sfide così complesse che l’umanità potrà vincerle solo innovando profondamente la propria natura e dotandosi di mezzi sempre più sofisticati. Tali riflessioni, introdotti da “Deserto rosso”, saranno sviluppate nel prossimo romanzo di Carla, “L’isola di Gaia” - di cui l’Autrice ci anticipa brevemente il contenuto - fino a guidare la storia stessa con forza prorompente.
