Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Texas basically, but moved to Arkansas in the Ninth grade. I have been in Arkansas since then. I think living in both places has given me a deep rooted love for Western things, including writing, and Southern things, such as quilt making, doll making, and cooking. I also feel the Southern culture has enriched my love of music and folk tales and legends.
When did you first start writing?
I really did write my first book, "Little Apple Tree with his Mother", never published of course, when I was quite small. I drew the illustrations on the back of paper bags until my parents finally bought me my first tablet to write and draw in.
