Sara Barton
Biography
Sara M. Barton trained as an educator and artist, worked in clinical settings with children and adults, and now develops family caregiver education as the Practical Caregiver.
"When I was fresh out of college, my goal was to be an author and illustrator. Back then, breaking into publishing was like storming Fort Knox armed only with a toothpick -- that lock wasn't about to yield to the likes of me. Even with a literary agent, I managed to accumulate a lot of rejection slips, but also some encouragement from editors. I put the dream on hold when life interfered. Now, older and wiser, I've got experience under my belt. I look at obstacles with a different perspective. The truth is I love to write fiction. There is nothing sweeter than sticking characters in the hot seat and making them find their way out of the darkness. I'm fascinated by human behavior and I love to see characters grow as they go through tough times. Life is never fair, but I believe in heroes, those people who don't take no for an answer, who put the greater good ahead of 'me, me, me'. But most of all, I enjoy a good story, seasoned with action, memorable characters, unpredictable behavior, and a monkey wrench big enough to jam up the best laid plans. It's the perfect human storm."
