David Bergsland

For me, my early life culminated with the great rebellion of the sixties. Ending up as a fine artist and heavy user of pot and acid, I needed help. I met Jesus in 1974, and my life began, for real. The Lord gave me an amazing Godly woman for my wife in 1976. I became a graphic designer, font designer, and desktop publisher. In 1991, I began teaching printing and digital publishing. That resulted in writing dozens of books and booklets about the practical processes, using InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
In 2009, I began the transformation into an author of fiction. By the end of 2022, I had 17 novels in five series, as I have developed my craft. This book is #20, and is the third book of the sixth series.
I’m using Christian contemporary speculative fiction with some Biblical romance to share stories about the reality of how Jesus touches our day-to-day lives, while being strongly focused upon Biblical truth. I put the stereotypical Bible quoters in the same category as robo-callers. I attempt to reveal Jesus within a realistic world sharing my experiences. The goal is to reveal Jesus as a loving Creator building people into what they are designed to be. I currently assume time is running short, and the final harvest is here.

• Surviving the Apocalypse in Steinbach, MB on Feb. 05, 2014
  
  There be zombies, in a Christian thriller. This is a Christian book, so I assumed it was about the "real" apocalypse coming soon. It's not. But it's a good story...a post calamity survival tale of realistic young love dealing with life & death issues of survival in a Canadian winter just south of Winnipeg. Yes, there are zombies. It's for younger readers, but I enjoyed it at thrice the age or more.

  OK, I snookered myself into a romance. Under the guise that it is a fantasy, I promised accept a free copy then to read it and review it. It's a fun read Though it's classed as a historical romance, there's little history here. What is available is history of an unspecified different world. The cultures are only defined very loosely. There is no map. Seekers of fantasy will be disappointed. I kept having questions like: How does a two-legged person with hooves for feet ever balance himself well enough to even walk? There are no answers to issues like these. A reader looking for pure fantasy will be disappointed. But… As a romance, it's a fantasy This is fairytale romance, and well done. Even though I don't like romances, I enjoyed this one. Two delightful people are prophesied to form a union and it's a fantastic event. Please remember the definition of fantastic. Modern, informal usage aside, it means: imaginative or fanciful; remote from reality. Yet, Ms. Ramsey pulls it off. It's just a believable story that the reader accepts. That's a feat in itself. The characters are compelling. The romance is joyful. Through all the problems, it's ultimately very hopeful. As a romance, this one is a lot of fun. It's good, clean fun. Spiritually, it's at the lowest level This is unspecified deism, with a Creator who is actively working in His world. He communicates with His Creation through prophecy. The centaurs and elves trust Him to bring the prophetic to pass and praise Him for who He is and what he does. There is no evil spiritual force mentioned. The enemy is human intolerance. This is a nice story, well told—and that is enough. It gently broadcasts seed, and that is its intent.

  High fantasy on an epic scale: a wondrous tale with serious content Unlike Guy’s previous books, this is not another speculative fiction, action/adventure, fantasy, romance romp as part of a series. It is much larger in scope. It’s a standalone high fantasy novel containing culminating battles of an entire world. Guy says his inspiration was El Cid. I don’t know about that as I have never seen the movie. Ayenathurim is a built world from Guy’s fertile imagination which enables Guy to tell the entire story of God’s dealings with mankind as an epic fantasy. Of course, it is fiction. As such, it will undoubtedly drive doctrinal purists nuts. So what? It’s not Earth as we know it, but the spiritual realities ring true. If you love fantasy, you’ll love this book. The spiritual warfare involved has that touch of truth I recognize as a believer of forty years who has worked in deliverance. For the non-believer, it is simply exciting action/adventure. It’s an uplifting book as is normal for Guy. A seemingly normal young man, a bastard product of rape, is driven away from his home. He meets a man who transforms his life. He becomes a wonderful warrior for good in the world. He defeats demons, legendary beasts, and eventually leads a huge army bringing good to a world that is really not interested. He finds and marries a good woman with whom he shares a powerfully uplifting marriage as he wages the wars he’s called to fight. This is epic fantasy that will stir your soul.
