What's the story behind your latest book?
The short story Sing a Mournful Melody is a nod to the old Gothic vampire movies of the '60s. Though I wasn't around when they were first released, I've caught them on television, from time to time. I was in college when I delved into the stories that inspired them, but the romance of those old horror tales never left me. When I saw the picture of the Graphophone that inspired the story, I thought it only logical to set Maribelle's story in the corresponding timeline and because I love to add the fantastic, was delighted when she brought the supernatural along with her.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I've been writing with an eye to publishing almost 20 years now, but I was always a little nervous about self-publishing. It wasn't until E-publishing became so accepted the last few years that I changed my mind. I sat down and worked out The Artist's Inheritance, formatted, edited it, and held my breath and hit publish. Now I'm hooked. ;)
