Smashwords Interview

What's the story behind your last book?
What is it about Westerns? Many of my books are about Western characters and Cowboys. There's definitely something interesting and sometimes spicy about a man in boots, tight jeans and a huge cowboy hat. I suppose living in Nevada helps to fuel my possible obsession, but I do write about other interests as well.
This last book -- well, I started this series with water in all the titles, for some crazy reason: Riding the River and Stream Ran Dry were the first two books and now comes Lonesome Creek. I had just taken a trip out to Murphys, California which is gold country out Highway 49. There's quite a series of gold rush towns in that area and I fell in love with Murphys. The historic hotel is real, as is Main Street and wineries. I took license with Millie's Cafe but there should be one on Main Street and with a nosy, heart-of-gold proprietor like Millie!
The story just flowed from wherever in my head stories originate about two sisters who inherit a ranch. One wants to live there but one doesn't, so naturally the one who doesn't, is the one who does. Wait! Did I say that right? Anyway, it's fun and sweet, and Carrie is as confused as Russ is handsome. I love instant attraction in my books with lots of tension and conflict thrown in to keep the pot stirred.
Happy reading!
What are you working on next?
I'm finishing The Westerners series with Cool Water. A great Western girl who works for a recreational company in Yosemite National Park giving trail rides saves a man from a bear attack and then gets stuck taking care of him. Naturally they can't stand each other but as time goes on, they discover there's more here than meets the eye. Poor Wes is a mess just having survived a series of unfortunate happenings in his life and Natalie isn't in much better shape herself. Meeting someone new was the very last thing on both their minds.
That's about as far as I've gotten, so stay tuned for how it turns out. Happy reading!

I liked this very much. It reminded me of an old Bugs Buuny cartoon ( sorry if that offends), where Daffy Duck goes from one setting and job to another - cowboy, pilot. It turns out Bugs was creating him as the story went along. Nicely written. Interesting British terms: pulled tongues. The American version is 'stuck his tongue out'. Enjoyable...
