Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in the outer skirts of Los Angeles. We moved around a lot, until we settled in the Sunland/Tujunga area. I learned to accept new circumstances and situations, but always kept a dream world in my mind. I still have some of those worlds in little notebooks where I jotted down my feelings.
When did you first start writing?
I started writing in high school. My story about a mysterious black box got published in a school compilation and I was hooked. Although I took a hiatus to have my children, I wrote poetry and short stories in my notebooks, even when I was working as a registered nurse.
