Smashwords Interview

What inspired you to write your latest book, Flawed and Dangerous?
The prevalence of bullying inspired me. There are parents who actually have to homeschool their children because it's so bad. Some people blame social media but it's not facebook or twitter; it's the people behind the screen who are attacking their victims that's causing the problems. I like to write about things like this because I have seen the damage that can be done to a person when they're bullied or have low self esteem coupled with that. This isn't a typical book about someone who's bullied and who just sits around and takes it. I've included major twists in this one. I wanted to go all out because I'm not sure when I'll be writing about this again. I may try my hand at more romance or something; but in the end, I know I'll probably end up coming back to the young adult genre because it's my favorite one to write about.
How do you approach cover design?
I cannot design a cover to save my life! So I use selfpubbookcovers.com to search for a cover that captures the book’s theme and grabs the reader’s attention.

  • Knowing Alpha on May 17, 2017

I really like the series. Bethany has a crush on a guy who barely knows she exists. Or does he? The notes that pop up in her locker was a really sweet thing to do. Once I started reading this book, I should've known that the person who I thought was putting the notes in her locker wasn't the one who was actually doing it. It was someone else completely. Can't wait to read part 2.
  • Unknowing Alpha on May 17, 2017

Wow, I didn't see this one coming. I like the plot twist at the end. I didn't want to reveal too much because I didn't want to spoil it for others. If you like romance and suspense, then you should definitely read this!
  • A Tangled Web on June 03, 2017

What a tangled web it is. The moment I started reading the book, I was thinking please don't let the baby Kimberly's carrying belong to Damien, her half-brother. Please let it be Kent or someone else's baby. I feel so bad for Kent. He fell in love with the wrong woman and got his heart broken into a million tiny pieces. I'm thinking all of this until I find out the baby can now possibly be Kent's. And then I keep reading on and find out that Damien has lost his mind. And he's up to something... Kept reading on to discover that the grandfather, Luke, is as evil as they come. I do feel a little sorry for Damien that is until he hits Kimberly. I have no respect for men who do that to women. All in all, this was a great read and I recommend it to anyone who's looking for something with plot twists and drama.
  • Dollhouse on June 05, 2017

Started reading this one as I was getting ready for the work day. What was supposed to be just a few pages read turned into many. I could not put this book down. It resonated with me because of the realness of it. So many times we as human beings try to pretend that everything is okay instead of confronting our issues and dealing with them head on. We may pretend that we don't know that so and so has an issue with dependency on alcohol or drugs. And sometimes the avoidance is due to fear - the fear of "what happens next" after confronting the issue(s) and any consequences that may be involved. Deep down inside we may already know what's going to happen next. What you do in the darkness will always come to the light. A secret is not really a secret. There's a Higher Power that is watching over you who is very well aware of your secrets and sees all. This is a must read page turner. It's also sad and powerful with a meaning and purpose. I recommend this book to anyone.
