Rotunno's writing is fresh and honest. The story arcs well with a lovable main character--full of heart and flaws. Though the heroine is a Christian, I appreciated the absence of pat answers and preachy writing. I really enjoyed this story and look forward to watching Rotunno develop as a writer. A wonderful debut!

Kittleson is a superb writer who crafts a well-paced, intriguing story. Her characters are larger than life, people we would love to emulate. Her historical details ring true and lend authenticity to the tale. In the midst of war, faith and hope shine. I thoroughly enjoyed losing myself in the story.
