Learn what you must do in this new economy to be competitive but not go overboard, what to expect, what to ask for and how to get it. You have to speak up for yourself, you can only get paid as much as you ask for - give examples and reasons why you are worth what you are asking and be sure to follow through. Going above and beyond goes a long way especially when the competition is breathing down your neck to try and get that same job and possibly for less money!
