Van Allen

Biography

Van Allen Fiction by Screaming Weasel Productions is my latest work. I'm a former Captain in the US Marines who now writes thrillers and futuristic adventures, including stories with conspiracy theories, alien invasions, space wars, and of course the zombie apocalypse. In my 21-year military career, I developed expertise in both combat training early on and then criminal investigations later on. While in the Marines, I completed a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University and a Masters in Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Originally from Houston, Texas and currently residing in Frisco, Texas, I fancy myself a secret physics, statistics, and data nerd. I'm also known today for being a part-time tennis strategy and coaching genius…by my kids…sometimes.

Smashwords Interview

What do your fans mean to you?
Fans are a validation of that common chord that runs through many of us connecting us by what we may find entertaining. I write with the fans in mind. I write because I want to entertain an audience. I know you are out there, you who will like my very own unique style of writing and storytelling. Let's connect and find ourselves together in the same audience.
What are you working on next?
I just finished Bear and it was a bear to finally get 'er done. Bear is dedicated to my son, Ashton. Next, I'm working on a zombie apocalypse survival test, a memoir or two, and at least two business essays about workplace bullying. I'm also pitching in with ePublicity Plus Writers Group to help one of their premier artists launch her writing projects. My next major writing project will be a full-length novel about a group of kids who uncover an alien invasion plan where alien bugs have invaded our world. They hide by burrowing under our skin, secretly living inside our bodies, controlling us in ways we do not know. Bugs will be dedicated to my daughter, Ashleigh. After that, I'm planning to shift gears and write an epic fantasy novel. Then I've got another SciFi writing project planned about a major government conspiracy at a secret military base. Check my website for the current update on my many projects.

Smashwords book reviews by Van Allen

  • You Can't Fix Stupid. on Feb. 09, 2016

I hear what he is saying. These arguments, examples, and ideas are not what I would call higher level. This essay might help somebody out there, but it didn't help me mainly because this fella is playing checkers, not chess. Still, his writing and premise are a good start. I hope he continues to sharpen his tools and develop some bigger weapons. In writing this review I feel like Morpheus talking to Neo in the dojo. This writer is still lacking something based on what I read here.
  • The Portrait on Feb. 11, 2016

EC, This is very nicely done. I've read through the first chapter so far. I'll leave another review once I finish the entire book. ~VA

  • Smile Back on Dec. 14, 2016

  • Smashwords Book Marketing Guide on March 12, 2017

Helpful and thought-provoking. I encourage new self-publishers to read this. Has a bunch of typos, which is curious, but the information shared is solid.
  • The Capitalist: Gee Gee's Story (Book 1 of The Crazy Eight saga) on April 26, 2017

This is a very interesting story. Not PG-13 by any means. I highly recommend Mr. VanMeter's books. I read this one while taking a short plane ride from Dallas Love to Little Rock. Heh heh heh heh :-))
