C. Gockel

Biography

C. Gockel got her start writing fanfiction, and she is not ashamed! Much. She received emails, messages and reviews from her fans telling her she should 'do this professionally'. She didn't; because she is a coward and life as a digital designer, copywriter and coder is more dependable. But in the end, her husband's nagging wore her down: "You could be the next '50 Shades of Gray' and I could retire!" Unfortunately, the author isn't much for writing smut. She is sad about this; she'd love for her husband to be able to retire and just work for her so she could nag him.

At the moment Ms. Gockel is putting the finishing touches on "I Bring the Fire Part III: Chaos".

This is my favorite book in the Emperor's Edge series. The Emperor's Edge books are known for breakneck action, this novel though 'slower' than the typical book is still action packed, but we get to see a little more of the characters, they get a chance to breath.

This was a very satisfying end to the series. Sicarius and Amaranthe's POV worked well to move the action along--we didn't see everything 'first hand', so we could focus on the exciting things. It ended at a good place. I'm probably the only person out there who isn't head over heels with Sicarius and Amaranthe together. He is so quiet and so damaged, I think before long she'll be lonely in the relationship, and ultimately I think the person who will hurt most is Sicarius. Amaranthe ultimately is an extrovert, and will always find someone, but Sicarius is much more vulnerable--people who are so contained tend to be. But that made the story more poignant. (This doesn't mean I don't want them to succeed, I just think for a long haul it would be terribly difficult). I loved how the strings of all the stories were pulled together. No one seemed out of character to me. I wasn't surprised by Books actions or Astyr's response. At the end the author asked what characters we'd like to see again. I would like to see Sicarius and Amaranthe, to see how she holds them together (or not). I would also like to see Astyr...he's such an ass, but that gives him a huge potential for growth, and he's already starting to grow.
