This is a delightful, fun short story with a look into the lives of characters off-screen, so to speak. I laughed at how hard we are on our main characters. Necia has a wonderful writing voice and I look forward to reading more of her work!
  • The String Weavers (The String Weavers - Book 1) on April 13, 2012
    star star star star star
The String Weavers is a delightful, fun book about a teen girl who begins the book worrying about college and ends worrying about saving the universe! Kelsey is a delightful character, and the secondary characters are all interesting. (Although I did occasionally have to look back to make certain I had the proper alien in mind.) The story unfolds in a series of revelations and adventures which take Kelsey farther from earth and into dangers she doesn't truly understand. This young adult tale of a girl thrown into a myriad of troubles and searching for her own true identity reminds me of the Andre Norton books I adored, complete with odd aliens and all! Excellent work. I look forward to reading the next book.

All I can say is that any time a story about negotiating a severance package can be this interesting, you know the writer is well worth reading! Moved into a science fiction setting, J.A. Marlow creates a great story about the perils of downsizing, robotics and revenge of a working class woman.
