Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Melbourne - a place I love leaving (for work or holidays) and love coming back to. My family were always big readers. I have very fond and forte memories as a child sitting around the camp fire down at Shoreham on summer holidays - all the family together, but individually engrossed in their own book. I have always expressed myself through writing and have dozens of notebooks filled with observations, theories, self-analysis and musings from my many travels around the world.
When did you first start writing?
I left school with little career guidance, but a love of history, research, writing and the knowledge that I could sell - but didn't know how that could fit together professionally. I was very fortunate to have a wonderful 1st year lecturer at LaTrobe Uni - Joanne Tompkins who (to my shock) almost failed me on my first written assignment! She said that the whole class needed to learn how to write properly - and teach us she did. Little did I know that all these things would lead me to have such a successful and fulfilling Sales Training career; responsible for many sales training publications, strategies and scripting. The ability to write persuasively has served me well and today I enjoy sharing some of my knowledge around the world via my eBooks and eLearning.
